Gingerbread Trail Map

There is something so inviting and alluring about a gingerbread house.

Just ask Gretel, “When they came nearer they saw that the house was built of gingerbread, and roofed with cakes, and the window was of transparent sugar.” (Hansel and Gretel, The Brothers Grimm)

This one phrase sparked a tradition of gathering and decorating sugared houses that has lasted hundreds of years.

The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce is delighted to announce our exclusive partnership with Page Turner Studios to design and build Gingerbread Cottages for the Hometown Gingerbread Trail.  “We are stoked to work together with the Chamber to build a lasting tradition of this joyous celebration,” said Page and Zephren Turner.  And the S-RC Chamber is equally excited to work with this talented couple to make the Hometown Gingerbread Trail a celebration to last for years!

Our Trail has grown from a single life-size Gingerbread Cottage to over a dozen life-size photo booth Villages that will be popping up from one end of Roanoke County, through the City of Salem, and on to the other end of the County.  Our Chamber members have partnered with other Chamber members and created Villages, consisting of a main “cottage” and exciting additions to the Villages, such as candy cane forests, trees and decorations, and many surprises for our community to enjoy!
