The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce is delighted to introduce SRCC Community Currency in Salem and the Roanoke Valley.  Our goal is to encourage shopping local, bring new customers to your door, and keep cash in our valley. SRCC Community Currency is redeemable at any participating merchant. All merchants in Salem and the Roanoke Valley are invited to participate for the remainder of this year and do not have to be a Chamber member.  Thanks to a generous sponsor, SERVPRO, the only fee to merchants is a 3% Stripe credit card processing fee.  Redemption is easy through an app or website and payments are sent to merchant’s bank accounts through ACH transfer from the Chamber.

How does it work? It’s simple:

1. Certificates are purchased from the Salem-Roanoke County Chamber website.
2. Buyers print the certificates themselves or email them to their recipient to print.
3. The certificate is presented to you, the merchant, when a purchase is made.
4. You quickly verify the code on the certificate using simple technology we provide.
5. The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber pays you via ACH electronic funds transfer or check within
14 days.


How much does it cost to participate?

For the remainder of 2021, there is only a 3% credit card (Stripe) processing fee.  The Chamber is grateful to SERVPRO for sponsoring the program so there is no additional cost to the Chamber or merchants.

Do I have to be a member to participate?

The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber wants to help all retail businesses thrive after COVID-19 and is offering this program to any participating merchant.

How do I get paid?

The Salem-Roanoke County Chamber will process payments to merchants twice per month.

Can the certificates be used more than once?

No. Each certificate has a unique code that, when verified, cannot be reused.

What if the customer doesn’t use the whole certificate?

You may either issue store credit or give cash back for any unused portion of the certificate.  However, we encourage buyers to buy in smaller increments, in hopes that the entire certificate, and more, is redeemed in your store.

Can I get a report on activity?

You’ll have a log in to your easy to use Merchant Portal to view certificates that have been redeemed at your store and also to see payments made by the Chamber to you.
