Annual Meeting & Economic Outlook Update
It was a packed house last Friday morning for our Annual Meeting hosted by Roanoke college at the Colket Center and sponsored by Sherwood Memorial Park. Matt Colt Hall, liaison with the Attorney General’s office, was the keynote. Matt provided an update on what is happening with the office of the AG.
Toni McLawhorn, former Chamber President, current Board Member, and Committee Chair, along with Ashley King, President, provided a 2022 year-in-review and announced this year’s Ambassadors. A panel of community leaders took questions led by moderator Gene Marrano. Economic Development directors Megan Baker of Roanoke County, and Tommy Miller of Salem, along with John Hull of the Regional Partnership and the informative, yet, very entertaining, Landon Howard, President of Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge, rounded out our panelists. Each director shared their plan and vision and answered questions that had been submitted earlier.
I concluded the meeting with a quick highlight of our 2023 program of work and upcoming programs and events. The breakfast meeting concluded by 9:30 and the networking and mingling continued. Thank you all for participating and making this year’s Annual Meeting such a productive morning.
Beltone Ribbon-Cutting
S-RCC members showed up in full force last week at the ribbon-cutting of the relocated Beltone location on Electric Road in Salem. Jordan McMillin is a fourth-generation Beltone owner, operating in five states with over 40 clinic locations throughout the mid-Atlantic region (Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Caroline). McMillin currently sits as the International Hearing Society Territorial Governor for Central East Coast and is a Board-Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist.
Josh Overton is the Hearing Care Practitioner at Salem Beltone Hearing Aid Center. Josh also serves as the hearing specialist for our Rocky Mount and Floyd clinic locations. Beltone’s mission is to help the world hear better. Needless to say, it was a fun ribbon-cutting!
